Those Two Dirt Clods are My Kids!

This past weekend we went camping with the family. We went with Grandpa Stretch, Chas, Chris and his crew, Beck and Erik, Matt and his crew for 3 days. We go up American Fork Canyon. When we got to our usual spot, we found a fence had been build just at the start of the trail. We had to pack all our gear into our camp ground. It didn't seem far until you started dragging it through the grass at a very high altitude.

The next day the kids got a little bored, but I was prepared. I brought visors and foam stickers. They spent a good 2 hours decorating their hats. Patrick also gave me a lesson on what Domesticated means. (He is only 5. I was impressed.)

Yes that is Chas tempted to squirt Alan. Many tricks were played this weekend. Chas brought some M60's. Erik brought a water gun, and someone brought an air horn. Let's just say thanks to the air horn, we knew when someone was going to the bathroom. Chris and Chas would sneak up and blast the horn just at you were about to do your business.

See that dead tree in the middle of the green ones? Alan decided it would be good firewood. Alan and Chas are in the picture with the trees, can you find them?

There were quite a few flies during the day. This is how Matt kept them away. He would sit there with his hoodie over his head and only his sun glasses were hanging out. He looked like the uni-bomber.

The kids played in the water close by. Chris and Beckie took all the kids on a mild hike. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Believe it or not we could not get away from the man cave at home. Matt brought a screen tent and the men played Risk and Uno in there. Matt preferred to call it the Gentleman's Club.

What is missing from all of these pictures? Caleb. He stayed home with Grandma Gerry. Thank Grandma! Changing diapers in the wilderness is not fun.

There was tons of wild life this year. We saw a moose, chipmunks, snakes, and two deer camped with us. We saw the deer every night. It is so beautiful there.

The kids were permanently dirty. We would wash faces only to have them dirty in 2 seconds. I was just glad when I got home and put my kids in the tub, that they were in fact my kids. I could have brought home Chris' kids and not known until they were clean.

HA HA HA!

Wow, that has to be the best recap of a camping trip ever. I laughed and laughed. I'd like to know, what DOES domesticated mean from a "SIX" (not five) year old? I'm curious now. Heh heh...

And the Gentleman's Club... Sheesh. Too funny.

Sounds like you had a great time. I agree that it would not be fun taking a baby camping. Too much work!!
