Something is Different?

I want to write about a HUGE achievement in our house instead of Christmas. Have you noticed the difference in these pictures? Chloe is now 11 days Binky free. In October I was able to get her from 24 hours a day to only at night. Then we hit a wall. Nothing could convince her to give it up. I cut a hole in it, and she sucked on it with a hole. I bribed her with toys and presents, no way. I was at Caleb's one year check up and the doctor told me to just 'lose it'.

I got ready for the battle, threw the one Binky she had left away, and put her to bed. Tears. Next night: tears, with a promise to go to the store and buy a new one. That made me cry. I hated lying to her. Next night no tears, but a promise to go to the store. By the 4th night no tears, and no promise. That made me cry again. Just a little. At the one week mark she said she "wish she had not lost her Binky". Now no comments at all. I think we are there.

Luckily Caleb will have nothing to do with a Binky so I don't have to do this again.

How did it get to this? I don't know. She is the kind of kid who needs her comfort. She goes to bed every night with Blanky, sippy cup with milk, and Binky (Not any more). I will NEVER ask her to give up Blanky!

(Thanks Grandma Gerry for the Pict's of her with out the Binky. I had a hard time finding some!)

Yay! I'm so proud of her! And you, I know how hard that must be for you. Sadly, I think lying is part of parenting. I mean Santa Claus just came right?
Chloe looks so cute w/o her binky!!!!

Now you need to bribe Alan to give up his Xbox...not going to happen.

Good job, Chloe!

So...It's been a few days. Is she still doing alright without it?

Yeah! Congratulations! I think it is almost as traumatic for the parents as it is for the child.

What an acheivement! Talia was the same. We only gave it to her at bed and nap as well. When she was 2 1/2 I told her that it was the garbage man's birthday and what he wanted most was her "soother", which had been cut down more than once. She didn't give it up right then and there and then one day she asked if it was still the garbage man's birthday. I told her it was and she went and threw it in the garbage. We were in the process at that moment of leaving my mom's house to go home and to bed. I didn't have a backup at home. I just prayed that she would make it through the night. She had never said a word about her "soother" ever since.
